Soulbound!

As some of you may be aware, the pre-order for Soulbound, the AoS roleplaying game by Cubicle 7, went up the other day. Despite the fact that I'd only being vaguely paying attention to this, I ended up putting an order through. While the physical book (and associated products, GM screen, starter pack etc) won't be out for a while, Cubicle 7 are proving a pdf copy of the rulebook with orders (or you can get the pdf separately if you don't like massive books) - very nice of them!

Soulbound cover. Yes, you can be a Kurnoth Hunter if you want to be. Squeezing through small gaps may be tricky. Maybe send your Quiverling ahead as a scout?

I've only had time to skim through the book so far (my more thorough read is only up to page 30 or so), but it looks very interesting.

While I played a lot of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Call of Cthulhu while I was a student (well, undergrad, Masters & PhD, so that's a fairly long period in any case!), I haven't played a game in maybe the last 5+ years or so. It is something that's on the to do list - I think the main reason is the old group of people that we used to play with (university friends) has long since scattered, and I'm absolutely terrible at catching up with people.

On the plus side, we do have a "newish" group of local friends that we sometimes play 40k and board games with - and I know they're into RPGs, so we may have an opportunity (once I've read the book and worked out some ideas).

First thought (prefaced with the fact I haven't read all the rules yet) is to theme something around Warhammer Quest: Shadows over Hammerhal, which I've had sat around unplayed since it came out. There's a wealth of background details in this set, so combined with the fluff section of Soulbound it should provide a quick and easy basis to get something running. I may change my mind, but lets see!

In the meantime, as I read through each chapter of Soulbound I'm going to make some notes, so I may do a review of the book, assuming my notes are coherent!
