Stormcast Reinforcements

We didn't get round to playing our next game in the Realmgate Wars series this weekend. Entirely my fault, as I had quite a bad headache on Sunday, and felt generally "off".

Hopefully we'll stand a better chance this coming weekend.

In the meantime, I'm happy to say that I've managed to finish off some reinforcements for the Stormcast Eternals (including basing!), meaning they have a more rounded force to pull from.

This time, the reinforcements are from two different Stormhosts - the Celestial Vindicators (blue) and the Celestial Warbringers (purple/pink with white pauldrons). Yes, I did manage to pick two Stormhosts with the word Celestial in them!

Up first, we have a unit of Protectors for the Celestial Vindicators, who make up the majority of the painted Stormcasts at present. All three Paladin units can be made from the same kit (I think I got these soon after the box came out, so a while back now!). Combined with the previously done Retributors, this makes up two out of the three available Paladin units.

What about the third? Well, the Decimators are currently sat on the painting desk, only slightly blued at present. Once all three units are done, the Stormcasts will have a core of elites ready to take on a variety of foes.

The Protectors supposedly specialise in monster stabbing with their long Stormstrike Glaives - an unmodified hit roll of a 6 against MONSTERS give them damage D6 instead of 1. They've also got a very good range stat of 3" for melee units. A Starsoul Mace rounds out the unit to give them some mortal wound output.

The other finished models are two units of Judicators with Skybolt Bows. Each Judicator prime is armed with a Shockbolt Bow to maximise the potential of their increased accuracy. Judicators tend to be a solid core for Stormcast armies (or, at least, they used to be! I haven't really followed how competitive they are for a while, but they have a reasonable ranged damage profile, and provide a good bit of ranged support for the Stormcasts).

The Judicators are accompanied by a Knight-Azyros, who can illuminate enemies on the board to provide a re-roll of 1s to hit, and can also shine his lantern on enemies to cause damage.

Painting some units of a different Stormhost is definitely a nice break from all the blue! There're a few battles in the Realmgate Wars series that involve multiple different Stormhosts - and since we haven't been using the Stormhost specific rules, the difference in colour doesn't make too much of an issue.

Celestial Heroes UNITE!

So, what's next on the painting table. Well, I've still got some Decimators, Prosecutors and some more Liberators that are partly painted, as well as a number of Dracothian Guard (not that we'll need them for a while). I also need to paint up a number of Slaves to Darkness and Tzeentch models.

Oh, and the first batch of models from the Mortal Realms magazine - because I didn't have enough Stormcasts to do anyway (these will be a bit different again...)
